Tika and I were at Jalan Pahlawan by 6AM for the
HEAL Project's opening activities for Car Free Day. Since everyone was late
(this "Indonesian time" thing is really annoying now), I just decided
to join the people doing aerobic dancing in the street, which was really funny.
:))) A little while later, some more people came, and we started the game. The
first one was to draw a poster about healthy living. The second one, to promote
the project, we had to go around Jalan Pahlawan and the nearby streets to take
selfies with people while holding a #HEALPROJECT placard. The last game was to
dance at Taman Kabe until we were sweating buckets. (Healthy living…) =))))
After that, we just went back to Jalan Pahlawan
to chill with some of the other AIESECers. Some of them I already met at the
CJLC, and some of them elsewhere, like Ryan, the funny Indonesian guy with the
British accent (seriously, what is up with that?), and Edo, Kali’s buddy. When
the others went to go have brunch, my OC told us to stick around because we
were going to the coffee fields. I’ve been waiting for this trip for a while
now. The thing is, because it was car-free day, Dini and Fifi shared a ride, so
there weren’t enough motorcycles for us all to go (Dini and Fifi on one
motorcycle, and Zaky on his), which meant that Iva Kali and I had to ride a bus
to Banaran. The OC told us to get on a cab to the Banyumanik bus station, so
Ryan called a cab for us.
The really annoying thing was when the three of
us arrived, we still had to wait about 30 minutes until the OC met up with us.
AAHHH INDONESIAN TIME. When Fifi finally came, she made us get on a bus.
Banaran Coffe (yeah, one E =))))) was a really
pretty place! We had lunch in this park-playground area – we sat on a picnic
mat on the ground and had some Indonesian food and coffee. After lunch, we got
on the train (which was actually more like a jeepney hahaha) that went around
the place. We got to see the really cool coffee plantation. The driver even
gave us some coffee beans, haha! When the ride was finished, we decided to go
around on foot. The place is huge. (And it was really hot – maybe around 40-45
degrees Celsius. Crazy, man). There were some incredible views, too. Before
leaving, we bought some coffee from the restaurant to take home.
We got on another bus that dropped us off at Ada
(the grocery in Banyumanik). Because Iva needed to buy a battery for her phone,
we were supposed to go to CL Mall, but thanks to Zaky’s horrible know-how about
public transportation, we got on the worst bus ride ever to Paragon. =))))) I
swear, it’s worse than rush hour with the MRTs back home.
Zaky really is bad at directions, hahaha! We spent about an hour looking around the mall, and we couldn’t even find what we were looking for. In the end, we stayed at JCo until each one of us had to go home. Kali and I took a taxi home.
